Artist Statement:

I am interested in telling the human story, transcending color lines, continuing to celebrate the Black Dance experience, and educating the national and international communities of the importance of dance. I believe the human story is one of reality, growth, sorrow, celebration and love. I create work that is infused with classical lines, rhythmical movements and modern shapes. I want to engage, transform and excite audiences with my narrative work and ignite a visceral response in one’s spirit.

I am captivated by soulful music from any genre that causes me to create color on a once blank choreographic canvas. The goal of my choreographic work is to be a reflection of our daily lives and experiences. I believe my authentic life and path is in dance education and choreography. I celebrate versatility and honor traditional movement and know that I stand on the shoulders of the many Black dance artists who have come before me.
