The intention behind this section of the website is to introduce publicly some of the Quakers who attend Canterbury Friends Meeting.
It has to be acknowledged, however, that this purpose also sets up a tension. In being the kind of people who value silence, Quakers are rarely people who crave opportunities to flaunt themselves. It is unsurprising, therefore that some Quakers feel considerable reluctance to put aspects of their lives on public display in this fashion, a preference easily respected. On the other hand, there are Quakers who believe that if we are to "let our lives speak", then the act of 'speaking' is likely to be most effective if it happens in those places where there are people who are willing, or indeed eager, to listen, of which, in 2015, the world wide web is pre-eminent.
The consistent format of these 'introductions' will be responses to interview questions. Privacy will be fully respected, and a photograph will be optional.
