Doug Gritmacker
Doug was on the streets when we meet him about 5 years ago. He was lonely, lost, and an alcholic. He used to be married and they had a son. I remember when we would meet him on the streets he would tell us that he wanted to be sober by the time that his son would be released from prison. Since that time he has been to The Salvation Army ARC in Springfield, Prarie Center, and living at The Salvation Army in Champaign; these places that he has been to was all for him to get sober and stay sober.
He has a bum knee and recieved his disability and now he's self-sufficient and living in an apartment, he has been sober for quite a while and volunteers on the Canteen Run. He wants to be part of the solution and not the problem. We helped him, so he wants to help others.
