WELCOME TO CANOPY CONNECTIONS 2014
Welcome to Canopy Connections 2014, Environmental leadership team. We are team of 10 undergraduate students from the University of Oregon that share a passion for the natural world. As enthused environmental activists and aspiring educators, we designed environmental education curriculum for middle school students and implemented it both in the classroom and at HJ Andrews Experimental Forest.
The Canopy Connections team, in collaboration with HJ Andrews Experimental Forest and Pacific Tree Climbing Institute, lead 250 students through 4 field stations designed to promote a connection to place and a love for the environment. Connecting to nature at an early age combats Richard Louv’s theory of “nature-deficit disorder” and instills a culture of respect and awe for the natural world, ultimately leading to the future protection of natural places.
