Windsurfing Senior Project

Congratulations on your J+ rating, and on being able to water start easily, which is a huge gateway to learning so many other skills and having a lot of fun!

Generally, senior projects, as well as becoming a senior, are about doing something that makes a significant positive contribution to the club. As a senior or aspiring senior, this is an ongoing state of affairs, where you are around and helping keep the club running. Senior projects often involve some combination of teaching and building/repair work around the club, with the emphasis depending on where your skills and interests lie. Some examples of senior projects that have been successful or I think would be exciting to see:

- become an expert on board repair - learn how to repair boards starting with novice/junior boards, repair a bunch of them, and teach a clinic or two to pass on your new expertise to other members of the club

- creating curriculum and organizing the teaching of a J or J+ fastrack (doing some of the teaching, and bringing in expert outsiders)

- organizing a series of clinics that teaching sailing skills to windsurfers and windsurfing skills to sailors

- building new racks or lockers or a new roof that is needed for club infrastructure

- organizing a series of traveling trips to locations such as Sherman island - taking responsibility for helping everyone have safe and appropriate gear, planning for tidal currents, etc

- other creative ideas are always welcome!

As you can see, a lot of different things are possible. Once you have a senior project idea, you will submit the proposal to Ex Comm and they will approve it.
