The Facts and Figures

To create this guide I contacted Vauxhall customer assistance and the information they supplied is copied below and on subsequent pages. I can not vouch for the accuracy of this information, and indeed some of it is somewhat suspect to say the least. They seem to have a conflict with the launch date of the first Calibra and seem to think it was later than 1989, but I have seen a “G” registration plate on a Calibra and even on a few websites there is videos of a “G” plate Calibra. Even the lunch advert showed one and if you search for the Top Gear review it shows a “G” plate one so take that as you will. Most of the other information I have compiled after purchasing all of the original sale brochures and from extensive searches through the internet, I may have things wrong but please remember its not a bible that’s writing in stone, it’s a guide so just treat it as such

People will come out and say they have one of the SE Calibras but it’s not the same colour as shown on here, well IT IS NOT AN SE!!! Why? Well its simple as at some point in the past a dealer or the previous owner sold it as one to gain the slightly higher price the SE Calibra has as shown in the books they use to get valuations. Even if the V5 (registration document) shows it as an SE, I could call my black 8V an SE2 (yellow with the 16V C20XE) on the V5 as you can easily change that information as you are not altering anything like the actual engine size (saying your 8v is a 16V all your changing is the description to Calibra SE) so if you want to believe its an SE and you wish to ignore the actual broachers and the colours shown, then carry on
