Election Day November 3, 2020

At a very young age I decided I wanted to pursue a career in education. In the ninth grade, thanks to an exceptional geometry teacher, I decided mathematics was my passion. I completed a Bachelor's of Multidisciplinary Studies at Texas Tech University and a Master of Art's in Educational Leadership from UTPB along with my principal certification. I began my career teaching sixth and fifth grade mathematics, and after my third year I was promoted to the campus math specialist. During this time I worked with small groups of students from grades first through sixth who struggled mathematically. I also served on my Campus Improvement Committee and have extensive training in working with ELL students. During the evenings I spent my time working in the math lab at Midland College, teaching a developmental mathematics course, and tutoring high school students. After 5 years with the district I was given the amazing opportunity as a full-time Developmental Math Instructor at Odessa College. I loved every minute of teaching adults who struggled with math but wanted to pursue a college education. I continued at this position until we moved to Colleyville in 2014. Now that all of my children attend school, I have returned to the classroom at TCC teaching developmental math and adult basic education.

My goal is to serve this wonderful community and use my knowledge to give back to a district that has allowed my children to thrive. I hope to bring a new perspective to the board as a parent and an educator. Most importantly I have experience and success working with at-risk students. I am aware of the many struggles students face after leaving high school and I want to help bridge the gap between these two areas.

I, along with over 60% of parents, strongly believe that children should be allowed back into the classroom. Through research and recommendations from the CDC and AAP I am fully confident that we can still provide a safe public education for all children. If elected I will represent the parents, educators, and tax payers.

My main motivation as I seek election is to focus on student accountability through grades, create the safest campuses for our children, and advocate for competitive teacher compensation. I would be honored for your vote and the chance to serve every family in Grapevine Colleyville.
