There are many places in the California Education Code that refer to Community Advisory Committee (CAC)s and SELPAs. Although the most well known codes for CACs are found in 56190-56194, please do not overlook the other important codes which delve more into the responsibilities related to the SELPA local planning and budget development processes and ways that CACs must be supported by SELPAs: 56001, 56190-56194, 56195-56195.5, 56195.7, 56195.9, 56200, 56020-56035, 56205-56208, 56240, 56728.7, 56780, 56836.23-56836.31, and 56836.156-56836.159.

The best way to ensure you are reading the most current information is to visit the CDE website and conduct a search using their word-searchable database of special education-related state and federal statutes and regulations.
