This very large, often colorful mostly tropical butterfly family includes small to large species of the Genus Speyeria and Bolaria (Fritillaries), Poligonia (Angelwings), Nymphalis (Tortoiseshell), subfamily Satyrinae (Satyrs and Browns), and subfamily Danainae (monarchs).
