Hello... welcome to BUTTERFIELDs of New South Wales, my name is Peter Butterfield.

Some time ago, I began researching my family history. I was amazed at how little knowledge there was about our family origins within our current generation. With such a short history in this country, I wondered why we had forgotten who had started our story here. So began the task of retracing our steps by examining BUTTERFIELD records through public resources.

Fortunately for me, my line had been quite parochial with few venturing far from Sydney since arriving here This made my job easier by containing my searches to NSW sources in the main.

As BUTTERFIELD is a reasonably rare name compared to some, it wasn't long before I had assembled a comprehensive list of BUTTERFIELDs documented as arriving, living or working in NSW during its first 150+ years.
