What's there to do?

gold was discovered in Barberton in 1884 and to this day there are still 5 working gold mines in the area.

The Kruger National Park is just 1 hour's drive away

There are some lovely walks from Bushwhacked, into the mountains and valleys behind us, up the hill to 'One Tree Hill', or walk 600 meters through the Fortuna Mine Tunnel (a good torch is needed).

There is really good Birding in our immediate surroundings (our bird count from around Bushwhacked is 143) with specials like the Buff spotted flufftail.

There is still an amasing amount of wildlife in the immediate area, sometimes seen by us but often seen by our cameratrap that is set next to a waterhole alongside Bushwhacked (ask us and we will show you the latest sightings) The cameratrap is running 24 hours a day since 2013.

Drive the scenic geotrail drive to the Swaziland border, This is where some of the oldest rocks in the world have come to the earths surface and are easily accessible. A dream for Geologists!!

The 40km road is now tarred and has 11 picknick stops that each have information plaques, telling you what you are looking at. It is extremely well set up, and this is one of the most scenic roads in this area( I feel it is even more scenic than the Panorama Route)
