Board meeting at the Seasholes' home
Present:
Dani Krasa, Simon Lasky, Fran Seasholes, Rieko Hayashi
Preparation for February 11 General Meeting:
Publicity:
Dani prepared and printed 1000 legal size blue announcements of the meeting after arranging with Andover Newton Theological School to use the Peck Room in Wiorcester Hall without charge. Kathy Knight distributed some on 1-23-07 as voters came to Bowen School for a special election. Fran and others will hand them to people in our area on Wednesday night (1-31-07) at Mason Rice School when the Newton Center Task Force has a public meeting to discuss its recommendations for improving the business area. We understand that Sean arranged for the announcement with the Bowen newsletter. Dani suggested borrowing one (more?) of the city easel-type announcement boards to put at intersections but no assignment was made. Delivering the notices door-to-door would be good and personal conversations are better in alerting neighbors.
"Legal" aspects:
Simon reminds us that the by-laws call for 50 members being present for votes. Dani will make some calls to people who have been active in the past to find a chairperson for a Nominating Committee and volunteers will be solicited on February 11.
The January 12 minutes stated this meetings date incorrectly. Simon corrected himself on the amount of money in the BTNA treasury...it is $217 before subtracting the $55 cost of printing the flyers.
Contacts needed before the meeting:
These minutes will go through Adam and Dani to all Board members. Dani will ask Mayor Cohen and Aldermen Danberg, Parker and Mansfield and ANTS President Nick Carter to attend and be acknowledged. Dani will arrange a May date for the general meeting/election of new officers, presumably at Hebrew College, so that it can be announced at this meeting.
Outline of the meeting:
A few of us will arrive early enough to put up directional signs, lay out some simple refreshments and see that chairs are appropriately arranged. Simon will have a basket for money donations. Dani will lead the meeting with greetings, explanations of BTNA including the need for a new election in May and an outline of the agenda which is to be contained bewteen 7:30 and 9:00. The agenda items will be given in the order of increasing local interest, such as: ANTS Chapel progress (Nick Carter), The Terraces up-date (Fran), Langley Road repaving & summer busing during work on T tracks (Simon), Bowen School overcrowding and playground work (Adam?), Chestnut Hill Square Development on route 9 (Sean &/or most knowledgeable Alderperson,,,Amy Sangiola?) and The Newton Centre Task Force proposals (Vicki Danberg).
