Merit Badge Requirements

On this web site are worksheets, which you can download and print, to facilitate working on each merit badge. Clicking on a link will redirect you to the pdf.

Any Scout may earn any merit badge at any time. You don't need to have had rank advancement to be eligible or wait for the troop to work on them.

Pick A Subject. Talk to your Scoutmaster about your interests. Read the requirements of the merit badges you think might interest you.

Application (Blue Card) for Merit Badges. Before a Scout can begin to work on a merit badge, he needs to get a merit badges application (blue card) from the Scoutmaster or merit badge counselor.

Do Not Lose Your Blue Cards!

The Scout's progress relating to the merit badge is recorded on the blue card.

Call The Counselor. Get in touch with the merit badge counselor and tell him or her that you want to earn the merit badge. The counselor may ask to meet you to explain what is expected of you and to start helping you meet the requirements.

Scout Buddy System. You must have another person with you at each meeting with the merit badge counselor. No 1 on 1 contact.

Unless otherwise specified, work for a requirement can be started at any time. Ask your counselor to help you learn the things you need to know or do. You should read the merit badge pamphlet on the subject. Our troop has a pamphlet library.

Show Your Stuff. When you are ready, contact the counselor again to your work.

Get The Badge. When the counselor is satisfied that you have met each requirement, he or she will sign your application (blue card). Give the signed application to your Scoutmaster or Adult Advancement Chairperson who will record it and present the merit badge to the scout at the next Court of Honor.

Requirements. You are expected to meet the requirements as they are stated — no more and no less. The requirements listed on Scouting.org are the current, official requirements.

If you discover that the requirements posted on this system do not match those on Scouting.org, please notify us by sending a mail message to workbooks@usscouts.org identifying the badge, which requirement number(s) are different, and the URL of the page or document on this site and the URL of the page on Scouting.org.
