Tip of the Day: When you have earned an Blue Card, before you turn it in, or once you get your Merit Badge at a C.O.H., scan in the Blue Card and upload it to Scoutbook under the appropriate Merit badge. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see Notes and a camera icon. Click the camera icon upload the image of the blue card. Here is a copy of your proof if you ever lose a blue card. You will need these for your Star, Life and Eagle Boards of Review. You don't want to lose of copy of your hard earned work.

Remember to keep logging your camping, hiking, water, riding and conservation hours and keep them up-to-date. (You can use the notes section to keep a running journal of the hours).

Please also check the Awards section and go through all of the National Awards for Outdoor awards and start to log your hours of time spent in a BSA Program where you spent time for the following:

  • Water Time (Complete at least 50 hours of any combination of swimming, canoeing, fishing, fly-fishing, kayaking, rowing, scuba, small-boat sailing, stand up paddleboarding, water sports, or whitewater activity) - High Adventure gives a lot of hours.

  • Camping (Complete 25 days and nights of camping—including six consecutive 264 days (five nights) of camping, approved and under the auspices and standards of the Boy Scouts of America—including nights camped as part of requirements 1 through 3 above. Boy Scouts must complete six consecutive days (five nights) of the 25 nights at a BSA accredited resident camp)

  • Conservation Work (Complete 25 hours of conservation work under the auspices and standards of the Boy Scouts of America)

  • Riding - Complete 200 miles of riding activities, including cycling, stock riding, skating, motor boating, mountain boarding, snowmobiling, (including ATV or PWC riding at an approved council program)

  • Hiking - Complete 100 miles of hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, or cross country skiing under the auspices of the Boy Scouts of America (AT Trips are a great source of hours)

Please note - Skiing, camping or swimming etc. with your family does not count - all must be done through a BSA program. Your hours at Yawgoog or Base Camp count as well as High Adventure and hiking/camping with the Troop. Most of the senior scouts should have already achieved Camping and Hiking....just saying....
