New Background Check Disclosure FormsOne our most important missions in Scouting is youth safety. Part of that commitment includes continually updating our youth protection policies to help ensure we are always on the forefront of youth safety. With every adult that registers as a leader, there is a national background check as well as a Massachusetts CORI. The BSA has initiated periodic rechecks of criminal backgrounds, starting with the charter year 2020.

This means, that an updated national background check disclosure form must be submitted by every registered adult. (Click here for the form) Leaders in multiple units only need to fill out one form. They should make copies of the original and indicate which units they are affiliated with. The BSA will only used these signed authorization forms for approval to obtain a criminal background check, not credit checks. Click here for more disclosure information

If you have any questions, or need more information, please don’t hesitate to contact Jon Pleva at jonathan.pleva@scouting.org

Going forward, all families will be assured that all leaders who interact with their children have the most up-to-date youth protection training and have been determined to be committed to youth safety.
