Why:A week of Boy Scout summer camp is unsurpassed in helping scouts really get into Scouting. It provides great scout skills, outdoor training, rank advancement opportunities, fellowship with scouts both in Troop 13 and in other troops, and the first steps toward greater self-confidence and leadership. And, it is tremendously fun! Scouts attending summer camp, especially in their first Boy Scouting year, are much more likely to stay in Boy Scouting in future years. The strong success of Troop 13 in bringing boys through to Eagle rank owes a great deal to the participation of the scouts in summer camp, especially when they first started in Scouting.
