Overlooking the beautiful harbour is an interesting medieval castle. It was built by the Luzinians and was connected to the walls, which surrounded the town. Close to the harbour and lighthouse there are other interesting historical sites such as the House of Dionysos with beautiful famous mosaics.

Birthplace of Aphrodite and in Roman times the capital of Cyprus, Paphos is situated on the south-west coast. Sheltered from the north by the Troodos Mountains, it has the healthiest year-round climate in the Mediterranean. Paphos Harbour with its ancient Castle, marine and water sports centres, is lined with restaurants serving fresh fish and marine delicacies. Nearby are archaeological sites, rich with antiquities, providing an interest away from the usual - in fact UNESCO has included Paphos on its world Cultural Heritage list.
