Welcome to Mr. Brown's website. Here you will find materials (along with our use of Google Classroom) to stay up to date on everything we are doing in class as well as some resources.
Mr. Brown attended Cal Poly Pomona originally majoring in Electrical Engineering after being inspired by his engineering class and teacher, Mr. Bob Franz at Los Altos High School in Hacienda Heights. Mr. Brown was then inspired by his former teacher and mentor Mr. Franz to teach engineering so he switched to Liberal Studies and obtained a Career Technical Education teaching credential in Engineering. In 2017 began pursuing a General Science/Physics credential at California State University, Northridge (CSUN).
Mr. Brown began as a student aide for his former teacher while attending Cal Poly. He decided to change his major and pursue a teaching credential after realizing he enjoyed going to work teaching high school engineering more than his engineering classes. In 2008 Mr. Brown obtained a CTE (Career Technical Education) Credential in Engineering and taught Pre-Engineering and Engineering at his alma mater, Los Altos High School. In 2009 Mr. Brown left Los Altos to build Engineering programs at William Workman High School and La Puente High School. He continued teaching Robotics, Pre-Engineering, and Engineering at La Puente High School and helping his students compete in a variety of engineering competitions until May 2018 when he left to teach middle school science at Walnut Grove Intermediate in West Covina, CA. Mr. Brown decided to teach science because of the impact of he saw science had on his students and how so many wanted to pursue engineering or technology related careers but lacked the proper science skills to do so. He hopes to inspire new generations of students to love science and pursue STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) Careers.
Mr. Brown has a passion for technology and soccer. Mr. Brown has coached soccer since 2004 and coached both Junior Varsity and Varsity La Puente High School. As a former goalkeeper, Mr. Brown loves training keepers and defenders. He also likes to spend as much time as possible with his nieces and nephews, teaching them about science and as much robotics as possible. Anyone who works with or takes a class from Mr. Brown will also see he is a big Simpsons fan and attempts to bring humor and relevance from the show into his class whenever possible.
