As a brief introduction -

Joseph Corbett Brown was born in 1860 and grew up at Coombe Hill, Gloucestershire. Annie Fowell was born in 1865 at Plymouth, Devon. They both went to New Zealand where they met and married at Dunedin in 1886 and 6 of their 8 children were born there. They returned to England in 1899 and initially took on his father's farm. After a number of moves they ended up at Pamington near Tewkesbury. Over the years all except one of their family returned to New Zealand.

John Hicks Brown also went to New Zealand a couple of years after his brother where he married a girl from a neighbouring farm in Gloucestershire, Kate Stokes.
