Joseph (Joe) Bowness

Joe joined the lab in 2017

Joe studied Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge, specialising in Part II Genetics. After graduating in 2016, he joined the Wellcome-funded Chromosome and Developmental Biology Doctoral Training Programme here at the University of Oxford.

Joe commenced his DPhil project in the Brockdorff lab in October 2017, completing his thesis entitled ‘Genomic Regulation and Molecular Pathways of X Chromosome Inactivation’ in the summer of 2021. He is currently conducting a short post-doc combining wet-lab molecular biology and computational genomics analysis to investigate gene silencing mechanisms.

Outside of the lab, Joe is a keen athlete and has represented Oxford University in Triathlon and Cross-country running.
