Friends of the Orchard

Welcome to the website for Friends of the Orchard (FOTO) at Broadmoor Lane in Bath, England.

UPDATE: We are thrilled that the Royal Horticultural Society has once again judged the Orchard as 'Outstanding' in 2023 - the highest accolade for our category (In Your Neighbourhood) in Britain In Bloom! This is huge credit to the volunteers who maintain the green space, and we welcome people of all ages to join us to help out in future.

We are a volunteer group who steer the direction of our treasured open space on Broadmoor Lane, encouraging community participation and environmental responsibility. Since 2018, we have carried on the community spirit of the now-retired Broadmoor Lane Residents' Association (1991-2018).

We organise regular community events in the Orchard, and also publish an occasional newsletter Broadmoor Views.  In 2022, the Royal Horticultural Society awarded our work in the Orchard as 'Outstanding', putting it amongst the best-tended community spaces nationwide. You can read our Landscape and Ecological Management Plan for the Broadmoor Lane open space here, detailing info on local flora and fauna.

We are passionate about our local community and invite everyone who uses the Orchard on Broadmoor Lane to get involved! To find out more, read up on our current and past local issues.

Our community events are run by volunteers, and we invite people to join in to help make them happen.

Our regular events include an annual Wassail, Apple Day and more.
