Conference and Workshop Organizing
I co-organize quite a few recurring conferences and workshops:
Zicklin Center Normative Business Ethics Workshop (with Amy Sepinwall and Julian Jonker)
I've co-organized this series, held at Penn, since 2016. We host six workshop sessions throughout the academic year, with three papers presented at each session. We understand normative business ethics very broadly, to include essentially any normative work that addresses economic issues. The sessions are pre-read, and authors don't present (the entire time is spent on Q&A). The Zicklin Center provides funding for authors' travel and accommodation. Abstracts for the upcoming academic year are due in July. Here is the CFA for this year's series, which provides more details about the workshop.
Philadelphia Normative Philosophy Conference (with Craig Agule)
The first PNPC was held at Penn in October of 2023, and this year's will be held on October 4th-5th (CFA here - abstracts due April 15th). This is a zero-budget conference with 30 talks and a commentator for each talk, and is open to normative work in any area of philosophy.
Vrije University Normative Philosophy Workshop (with Justin Bernstein)
This one day workshop is held at VU Amsterdam during the summer, and is scheduled around whatever other conference travel Justin and I have. It features five talks and a commentator for each. The third workshop will be held in May of 2024.
Groningen-Wharton PPE Workshop (with Lisa Herzog and Julian Jonker)
This two day workshop is held at Groningen in September, either shortly before or shortly after the MANCEPT workshops. It features eight talks on PPE-related topics and a commentator for each. The third workshop will be held this September 2nd-3rd. Here is the page for last year's workshop.
Penn-Georgetown Digital Ethics Workshop (with Will Fleisher)
This two day workshop was held at Georgetown in March of 2023, and at Penn in March of 2024. It features eight talks and a commentator for each, and work on any topic in digital ethics, broadly understood, is welcome. The 2025 workshop will be at Georgetown, with dates to be announced soon.
Columbia River Ethics Workshop (with Hallie Liberto)
The first workshop took place in Astoria, Oregon over three days in August of 2023, shortly after the Rocky Mountain Ethics Congress (RoME). Here is the page for the workshop.
International Conference at EthicsLab in Yaoundé, Cameroon (with Tim Meijers, Thierry Ngosso, and Mpho Tshivhase)
The launch event was in 2019, and the five-year anniversary conference will take place in June 2024. It will feature scholars from across Africa and the rest of the world.
Here are some one-off conferences and workshops that I've also co-organized:
MANCEPT Workshop on "The Future of Relationships" (with Luke Brunning, Ruby Hornsby, Kritika Maheshwari, and Natasha McKeever, University of Manchester, September 2024)
Panel on "The Ethics and Politics of Algorithms" at Braga Meetings on Ethics and Political Philosophy (with Kritika Maheshwari, University of Minho, June 2024)
Symposium for the 10 Year Anniversary of Joseph Heath's Morality, Competition, and the Firm (with Michael Kates, St. Joseph's University, March 2024)
MANCEPT Workshop on "Employment, Justice, and the Future of Work" (with Ben Ferguson and Nici Mulkeen, University of Manchester, September 2023)
