Ordinary Differential Equations with Boundary Value Problems
The course will be based on ``Elementary Differential Equations with Boundary Value Problems'' (Free Edition 1.01, December 2013) by William Trench. This book is available online at the webpage of Prof. William Trench at http://ramanujan.math.trinity.edu/wtrench/texts/index.shtml (http://digitalcommons.trinity.edu/mono/9/ and http://digitalcommons.trinity.edu/mono/10/)
We will cover sections 1.1-1.3,2.1-2.6, 4.1*,5.1-5.7,6.1*, 7.1-7.3,8.1-8.8, 11.1-11.3, 12.1-12.4, 13.1-13.2 (the order is subject to change).

``Elementary Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems'' by William Boyce and Richard DiPrima.
``Advanced Engineering Mathematics'' by Erwin Kreyszig (the book is available in the bookshop and is a good reference book for three classes at AlFaisal (Linear Algebra, ODEs & PDEs, Numerical Analysis) - it is recommended to buy it).
Communication I have created a google group at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/odespdes-at-alfaisal-fall-2015 such that I can send you emails. Please join this mailinglist.
Exams There will be two midterm exams on October 15th and November 22nd.
Grade The final grade will be computed as follows: Homework contribute 10 percent, the midterm exams 25 percent each, and the
final exam 40 percent.
Homework Assignments Homework assignments are indispensable for a good understanding of the material. Mathematics is actually more about understanding than about memorizing. You are strongly encouraged to work all of them out.

The homework assignments will be found on this website. Their solutions can be found in ``Student Solutions Manual for Elementary Differential Equations and Elementary Differential Equations with Boundary Value Problems'' by William Trench which can be found online at http://ramanujan.math.trinity.edu/wtrench/texts/index.shtml.
Remarks about the Homemork
You are required to solve at least one problem per section in order to get the 10%.
Homework will be assigned every Sunday and collected one week later.
Each assigned homework will have equal weight in the final homework score.
Homework assignments will not be graded and you will automatically get 10% of the final grade if you turn them in.
Late homework will not be accepted under any circumstances.
Please print your name, staple your homework, and write down the homework number.
Remarks about the Exams
Solutions for the midterm exams will be posted on the web.
No makeup exams. A missed exam counts as zero points.
Use of books, notes, and calculators will not be allowed on any exam.
