Alina Botezat

I am a senior researcher at the Gheorghe Zane Institute for Economic and Social Research, Romanian Academy, Iasi Branch. I graduated from the University of Mannheim in 2008 with a "Diplom-Volkswirtin" degree, and completed my PhD in Applied Microeconomics and Economics of Education at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi, Romania. During the period from 2013 to 2016, I had the privilege of being a Fellow at the College for Interdisciplinary Educational Research (CIDER), Berlin, Germany.

Examining current economic and societal issues, my research interests span across the fields of economics of education, migration, policy impact evaluation, and the broader domains of wellbeing and health. In my work, I employ the latest statistical and econometric methods in an effort to identify causal effects.

I represent Romania as a member of EENEE (European Expert Network on Economics of Education) and NESET (Network of Experts working on the Social Dimension of Education and Training).
