My Boston Whaler Rage

The first edition of a Whaler Jet boat from 1992-1993 was the 13'6" with the 650cc 50hp Yamaha. I think it was a bit underpowered, but would push two and gear along 25-27mph. Parts are readily available from the internet or a Yamaha dealer.

The next editions 1994-95 were a little bigger 14' boat with an OMC 90hp and 115hp. Probably a sufficient size engine but research says that parts are horrendously difficult to get. The problem is the cooling system on the OMC's is not self draining and if ice forms from cold weather in the metal passages, they crack.Proper winterazation is a must!

The last incarnation had a Mercury 175hp engine with a bigger hull. No drawbacks that I know of, except the cost. This was by far the most expensive Rage, and the last of this design.

The 1992-1993 (series 1) Boston Whaler Rage models are great years because of the design, engine placement, trolling motor mount full size swim platform, and available parts. Being powered by a Yamaha 650 engine/pump from a "Waverunner III" jet ski means there are incredible amounts of OEM and aftermarket parts available, and inexpensive.
