Boryslaw Roots

Boryslaw is located in Galicia which was part of Poland between world wars and now part of Ukraine. It is 120 KM south to Lwow/Lviv.

In June 2010, my family & I decided to go on a roots trip to Poland & Ukraine and I wanted to learn more about what my grandparents have gone through during the holocaust. For this I've done some research to learn more their personal stories and also learn about the jewish community in Boryslaw and the surroundings like Drohobycz

My research included several parts including recording & documenting my grandparents stories, building the family tree, searching the web & literature for information about the place and its jewish history and also of course plan the trip to Boryslaw.

I decided to share some of the information I gathered to help families of survivors from this town learn more about their ancestors roots and plan a roots trip.

בוריסלב (בוריסלאב) ממוקמת בגליציה שהיתה חלק מפולין בין שתי מלחמות העולם ועכשיו חלק מאוקראינה. העיר ממוקמת כ-120 ק"מ דרומית ללבוב.

ביוני 2010, אני ומשפחתי החלטנו לצאת לטיול שורשים בפולין ואוקראינה ובמסגרת זו רציתי ללמוד יותר על מה שעבר על סבי וסבתי בזמן השואה. לצורך כך, עשיתי מחקר על הסיפורים האישיים שלהם בפרט ועל הקהילה היהודית בעיר בכלל.

המחקר כלל תיעוד והקלטה של סבי וסבתי, בניית עץ משפחה, חיפוש ברשת ובספרות למידע נוסף, וכמובן תכנון הטיול.

האתר נוצר על מנת לתת קישורים למידע על בוריסלב (ודרוהוביץ בעקיפין) והקהילה היהודית לפני ובזמן מלחמת העולם השנייה.
