Short Stories

I write short stories on a variety of topics, but they are primarily for my own personal enjoyment. I have one major project at this time.

The major project is called "Modern-Day Traditions and Holidays of the Filipino People", mainly targeted at the children of Filipinos who were born and/or grew up abroad and may never get to see the traditions in action. It has five (5) major parts, namely:

    • Undas (All Saints' Day)
    • Christmas and New Year's Day traditions (e.g. Kris Kringle, Noche Buena, Media Noche)
    • Fiestas
    • Lenten traditions (e.g. Pabasa)
    • Good manners and its effect on being part of the well-roundedness of a Filipino

It also has several minor portions, among them are Filipinos exemplifying resilience by surviving a typhoon (hurricane) and the anniversary celebrations of the four major schools (UP, ADMU, DLSU, UST) are also included here.

Once finished, I plan to publish them here (one volume at a time, in PDF format) under a Creative Commons license.

The other topics which I write for my personal enjoyment involve Filipino-Americans and their lives in the U.S., and how they still connect (if they could) with their relatives and friends back in the Philippines.

Why I Write for Balikbayans and Their Children

As a Filipino with many relatives abroad (especially the U.S.), I am saddened by the fact that children of balikbayans usually never get to know about their parents' homeland or their relatives here. And there is a dearth of freely available works about our country (for these purposes, freely available is either Creative Commons-licensed or public domain). I am trying to publish works that promote the Philippines in the positive way and are free for all people and positive intentions.
