About the teacher

Hello,

My name is Rutawari Sharma and I am the founder of Bollywood Guitar Lessons. I have been a Professional Guitarist/Singer for over 25 years. My greatest musical inspiration was my mother Late Sanyukta Dani who was a very talented vocalist.

As a child I started learning Harmonium/Keyboard, Indian Classical/Light music and Indian Classical (Kathak) dance. This variety of training gave me a strong foundation of melody and rhythm which came in handy when I started learning Gutar at the age of 15. I loved it the day I started playing it.

I was fortunate to receive formal training in Guitar from Mr. Anil Sukapure, a very renowned and accomplished guitarist from Pune. Me and my brother Bhaskar , who also is an accomplished guitarist used to spend hours together strumming guitar to our favorite songs.

After four  years of dedicated formal training, I started accompanying my mother in her shows and before  I knew I was playing professionally in Studio recordings, Radio & Live satge shows.

I had the opportunity to accompany many renowned Indian Singers/Music directors like - Dr. Salil Kulkarni, Padmaja feani, Ravindra Sathe, Suresh Devale,Shubha Joshi, Suresh Devale.

When I came to the US 1999, I started playing in a popular Bay Area band - 'Tarang'. We did live benefit concerts for ASHA, IPL, VIDE, MMBA, live radio show on KKUP, Bay Area.

I am a great admirer of  legendary music Directors like R. D. Burman, S. D. Burman, O. P Nayyar, A. R. Rehaman and vocalists - Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosale, Kishore Kumar, Mohd. Rahi and many other singers of the new age such as Shaan, Sonu Nigam, Rahar Gateh Ali Khan.

I believe that if you can relate to the music then learning becomes a fun experience. I started these classes to share with others the joy of Music. Hope you enjoy the classes!
