To clarify - Bolivar McFaddin nude beach is NOT a Resort or a pay to access beach it is ONLY A DESERTED STRIP OF BEACH COAST, NO BUILDINGS, NO CABINS, NOTHING BUT AN OPEN DESERTED BEACH COAST TO DRIVE YOUR CAR TO AND GET NAKED...

Also to note that McFaddin beach NOT Bolivar Beach, Bolivar beach is where the Bolivar Ferry is located, on Highway 87 (Beach Rd) and McFaddin Beach is on the total OPPOSITE end of Highway 87 going east maybe 20 miles, the reason the Nude Beach got pegged the Bolivar name is because it's on the Bolivar Peninsula, many out of towners assume that the whole 20-mile stretch is Bolivar Beach which is incorrect, in fact as you drive along the coastal beach Highway the beach communities names keep changing, and McFaddin is the last beach on that stretch, you will know you have arrived closer to the nude beach when Highway 87(Beach Rd) dead ends due to road erosion from past Hurricanes, the nude beach is at least 3 miles into that washed out deserted area, there is no longer a road but you keep driving along the beach, most people don't drive into it far enough down and give up and turn around but don't, just keep driving until you see the cars parked on the beach, also it IS IMPORTANT that you drive FAR enough down because that removes you from the Galveston county line and their jurisdiction, that's IMPORTANT and this is the reason McFaddin had became a nudist beach BECAUSE it takes Galveston out of the power to harass nudists, McFaddin beach is in Chambers County, and the officials in Chambers County NO LONGER have a beach road (hwy) accessible to the McFaddin beach UNLESS they backtrack and drive all the way around and through three other counties to get to McFaddin Beach, SO THIS IS WHY THIS LAND AREA MADE FOR THE CREATION OF A NUDE BEACH, but unfortunately Galveston did a little loophole, they got the Texas Game and Wildlife to drive through and give out tickets to deter nudity, just really red tape and/or nagging public complaints.

So we have adopted the Bolivar/McFaddin nude Beach name because that is what all the out of towners are calling it, so that is why we call it both names.

NOTE: The Nudist Beach is only 3 miles from High Island Tx.

Note: Some websites say that you need a 4 wheel drive to get to the nude beach, that depends on the time of year, in summer the amount of cars driving down there has caused and created a firm path way for any vehicle to gain access to the nude beach.

"Even though you're out of Galveston county a person can still be ticketed by the Game and Wildlife, so bring you're binoculars and just cover up if you see a truck with that description."

Directions to the

Bolivar/McFaddin Nude Beach

when you see and reach the beach

from High Island...

When you first hit the ocean TURN LEFT on the destroyed road THEN clock on your mile meter 3 miles, THIS WILL BE THE NUDE BEACH I suggest you even go further down until you see parked cars... THE BIGGEST MISTAKE I SEE WHEN PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO FIND THE NUDE BEACH IS THEY DO NOT DRIVE FAR ENOUGH DOWN, I see them parked and naked way to close to the beginning, these people can be ticketed by Galveston because you are in there county!!! IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU GO AT LEAST 3 or 4 MILES TO BE IN THE OTHER COUNTY, this way Galveston County has no authority to ticket any nudist, so JUST go far enough down past the county line border.

The County line sign was destroyed, so go 3 or 4 miles to be sure your in other county, I have not or never heard of ANYONE being arrested at Bolivar/McFaddin Nude Beach for nudity, but people have been ticketed in the past for nudity, (remember nudity is still not officially legal in texas yet) but if your ticketed its just red tape for them, and I think the fine is $275 bucks, but hopefully they need to be busy with much more important issues...

Bolivar/McFaddin Nude Beach is located 5 miles north of High Island,Tx along State Highway 87 in Jefferson County, approximately 80 miles from Houston, and 45 miles from Beaumont, Tx.

If going thru Winnie, Tx then to High Island Tx, you will then come to the ocean, (McFaddin Beach) this is highway 87, take left (east) turn going thru the barricade signs saying: "road closed do not enter", IGNORE the warning its only for highway travelers that don't know our area, so they will not hit a dead end washed out beach road. From the moment you turn left, you should clock on your mile meter, 3 miles, that's the distance to the nude beach area. When the pavement on the road ends (1 mile), you will have to drive about 2 miles along the make shift road along a fence, then the pavement on the road is starts to be good again, go about another mile. If you have thought you went to far, YOU HAVE NOT!!! KEEP GOING!!! Don't turn around, you keep going until you see parked cars and nudes, you will know you have arrived!!!

NOTE: Even though you're out of Galveston county a person can still be ticketed by the Game and Wildlife. So bring binoculars and just cover up if you see a truck with that description.

FROM HOUSTON:

(If coming from Houston, Tx head to Winnie Tx. then to High Island, Tx. then to nude beach)

Take I 45 south to Galveston. When in Galveston continue straight down Broadway until you reach the beach. Turn left to Ferry Road, (two stop lights). Left again on Ferry Road to the landing.

It takes the free Ferry 13 minutes to travel across Galveston Bay to Bolivar Peninsula. When you get off the Ferry just keep driving on the same highway you are on when you had gotten off the ferry, this is Highway 87 (Beach Rd) at the community of Port Bolivar, home of the Bolivar Lighthouse. Just keep driving about a straight path for 20 miles to McFaddin Beach, you will see the that the highway ends directing you to go north (left) to High Island, but DO NOT!!!...Keep going straight, ignoring the road barricade saying: "Road closed do not enter"IGNORE the warning its only for highway travelers that don't know our area, so they will not hit a dead end washed out beach road. KEEP GOING STRAIGHT still following the beach coast, you should clock on your mile meter, 3 miles, that's the distance to the nude beach area. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU GO AT LEAST 3 or 4 MILES TO BE IN THE OTHER COUNTY, this way Galveston County has no authority to ticket any nudist if they JUST go far enough down past the county line border.

(The County line sign was destroyed, so go 3 or 4 miles to be sure your in the other county) I have not nor ever heard of ANYONE being arrested at Bolivar/McFaddin Nude Beach for nudity...

When the pavement on the road ends (1 mile), you will have to drive about 2 miles along the make shift road along a fence, then the pavement on the road is starts to be good again, go about another mile. If you have thought you went to far, YOU HAVE NOT!!! KEEP DRIVING!!!

Don't turn around, you keep going until you see parked automobiles and some nudist, you will know you have arrived!!!

FROM GALVESTON:

(If coming from Galveston Tx, once you exit the ferry head to along the coast toward High Island Tx. when beach highway ends go straight around the barricade, the nude beach will about 3 miles from that point.

NOTE: Even though your out of Galveston county a person can still be ticketed by the Game and Wildlife. So bring your binoculars and just cover up if you see a truck with that description.

FROM LOUISIANA:

(If coming from Louisiana, head to Winnie Tx then to High Island, Tx. then to nude beach)

Take I 10 west to Winnie, go thru Winnie, that road turns into highway 124 heading south until you come to the High Island, keep going to you hit the ocean, this is McFaddin Beach on highway 87 (beach road), Turn left (east) go thru the barricade signs saying:"road closed do not enter", IGNORE the warning its only for highway travelers that don't know our area, so they will not hit a dead end washed out beach road. From the moment you turn left, you should clock on your mile meter, 3 miles that's the distance to the nude beach area. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU GO AT LEAST 3 or 4 MILES TO BE IN THE OTHER COUNTY, this way Galveston County has no authority to ticket any nudist if they JUST go far enough down past the county line border. (The County line sign was destroyed, so go 3 or 4 miles to be sure your in other county) When the pavement on the road ends (1 mile), you will have to drive about 2 miles along the make shift road along a fence, then the pavement on the road is starts to be good again, go about another mile. If you have thought you went to far, YOU HAVE NOT!!! KEEP DRIVING!!! Don't turn around, you keep going until you see all the nudes, you will know you have arrived!!! BEACH CONDITIONS...

NOTE: Even though you're out of Galveston county a person can still be ticketed by the Game and Wildlife. So bring your binoculars and just cover up if you see a truck with that description.

THE BEACH CONDITIONS:

The beach conditions can vary from not having any beach front at all during high tides to about 20-30 feet wide. Sometimes there's clean sand and shells and other times the beach is strewn with washed up rubbish and debris (sad to say, not all is washed up but left there by visitors) and even drilling mud which is slimy and yucky but harmless. Even during high tide nudists are not discouraged. Everyone just parks and sets up their lawn chairs at water's edge. Most of the time though, you can safely drive up and down the beach, just be careful of getting stuck in the soft sand of the little turn-ins.

You can sun on the beach in every month except February and March when it was too cold although I have to admit that the crowd thins to about one in December and January. The old beach road has completely washed out in many places.

It starts out good, then is a dirt/sand road then is a semi paved road again, as soon as you hit the paved road again, this is the nudist beach area. People I've seen anywhere from no one to about 30 people on the beach at any given day. Weekends are the busiest and for some reason Monday and Tuesday afternoons are just as busy, usually with single men.

The beach in the past have been popular with family nudist, but not so much now, but you will see married couples and single men and women, gay males usually hang out on the far east end of the beach.

The nude beach is for all, and especially for "THE FAMILY" The majority of the worlds nude beaches are for the entire family and are family oriented. There are several nudist regulars who gather at the beach, but I find the majority of the nudist come alone or with a friend and just meet and socialize with individuals or other couples. If you're new to nudity, don't worry about going to this type nude beach, you do not have to be naked

if you do not choose to be, and people will not pressure you to be nude, but I assure you will be less noticed if you blend in and just get naked, stay to yourself for a while until you get comfortable, sit in your lawn chair, drink a cool soda, then FORGET YOU ARE NUDE, it's a freedom you will always love and keep, that's all it takes to become a nudist. Everyone seems to get along just fine down here...

NOTE: Even though you're out of Galveston county a person can still be ticketed by the Game and Wildlife. So bring your binoculars and just cover up if you see a truck with that description.
