Church Ave. Road Closure Notice for Saturday June 4 2022
S Church will be closed on Saturday June 4th from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The closure will begin at the intersection of S Church and Story, and end on the south side of the Gallagator crossing. Neighbors to the south of the crossing (Ice Pond Rd, etc) will need to turn south on S Church to detour away from the Gallagator crossing. “Road Closed Ahead” signs will be placed at the intersection of Kagy and S Church to prevent traffic from traveling north on S Church from Kagy Blvd.
Ready, Set, GO!! Traffic Calming Set Up Day : JUNE 4 2022
Hello neighbors! We will be painting the curb abutments and placing the large flower pots at the crossings on the Gallagator on June 4. Matthew Madsen and his graduate student assistant Jen McFarlane will close S Church Ave. from Kagy to Story at 7AM. Then the work begins. First, we will sweep and clean the road for painting. Then, a white base coat will be applied. We will also be touching up the yellow on the curbs. If you are interested in helping with these beginning steps, please respond to bogertpark@gmail.com. We will need 2 people for sure starting at around 8 AM to help with cleaning and painting. All supplies will be provided, but you will need some gloves.
The second step is to have our artist, Mitch Sander, do his magic and paint the curb abutments in bright colors.
And finally, Salal and Marie will slide the planted pots up the street on furniture movers to set them in place. At that point, the self-watering pots will be filled with water thanks to one of our generous neighbors close to the crossings, and the work will be done.
Matthew has already started collecting the pre-project data. This year we will have a much longer time period from which to draw results, June through September. Our goal is to collect enough data to be able to request a permanent traffic calming structure on S Church when the street is rebuilt for new sewer lines. There is no fixed date for the street to be rebuilt at this time, but we will be ready when there is.
Bogert Park Neighborhood Cleanup and Social UPDATE:
Our Bogert Park Neighborhood Earth Day Cleanup and Social are still on rain, snow or shine!
Volunteer neighbors will be in Bogert Park at the Pavilion this Saturday, April 23rd from 10am until noon handing out cleaning supplies to all who come!
The “blue truck” will be parked at the Pavilion until noon to collect your tech items to recycle and will be leaving promptly at noon for the Logan Landfill where 406 Recycling will be collecting and responsibly recycling these items.
If the weather cooperates, we will pick up all trash and recycling in Bogert Park, the Gallagator Trail (to behind the condos) and the parking lot area at Peet’s Hill. If there is just too much snow or it is raining too hard, we will hand out the supplies to all who show up, and you can pick up our assigned area (and more!) anytime during the week to follow when the weather is nicer. The garbage & recycle bags can then be put out on South Church Avenue or on your curb anytime during this coming week.
Those who pick up supplies and trash will be invited to the Lockhorn Cider House Social no matter the weather from 12:30pm to 2:00pm this Saturday, April 23rd. Lockhorn Cider House has generously opened up early donating their space and offering us discounted cider and there will be yummy snacks donated by Cafe Fresco, Little Star Diner & Vienne.
This will be a nice meet greet for our neighborhood.
Got to love springtime in the mountains…and a Party is a Party no matter the weather! :)
NEIGHBORHOOD EARTH DAY CLEAN UP AND SOCIAL APRIL 23 2022
Let’s CLEAN UP OUR HOOD TOGETHER during the Gallatin County Earth Week! Your Bogert Park Neighborhood is signed up to help clean up around Bogert Park, Burke/Peet’s Hill parking lot and along the Gallagator Trail. The City of Bozeman provided all the gloves, vests and garbage bags needed. All we need to do is pick up the trash! Meet at Bogert Park’s Bandshell on Saturday, April 23rd at 10am to grab your supplies and we will finish up by 12 noon.
BRING YOUR TECH TRASH too, because we will have a truck and volunteer neighbor collecting and taking it to the Logan Dump for us, where 406 Recycling will then properly recycle it! Bring those old DVD players, phones, computers (including the computer battery), TV’s, and other tech items that have been piling up and cluttering up your drawers and cupboards! Sorry, no electrical items such as refrigerators and dishwashers or car batteries. More info here: https://gallatinsolidwaste.org/recycling/ewaste/
LET’S CELEBRATE afterwards, as all volunteers are invited to the “Great Post Covid Bogert Park Neighborhood Social”, graciously hosted at our favorite neighborhood Lockhorn Cider House starting at 12:30pm. Those who show up to help clean up on Saturday, April 23 at 10am, are invited! We will have coupons for drink discounts at Lockhorn Cider and snacks generously donated by Cafe Fresco, Little Star Diner and Vienne!!
Or, you are welcome to pack a lunch and bring it over to the ciderhouse to enjoy.
We also will provide sidewalk chalk for all ages to create some Earth Day celebration art! We hope you will take this opportunity to “spring clean'' our much loved neighborhood and then afterwards meet, greet and visit together!
