Born March 11, 1910, Gertrude Walter (Bobby) Lerch passed quietly at her home in Chevy Chase, Maryland surrounded by loving family and caregivers on Saturday, April 12, 2014.
She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 49 years, Henry F. "Hank" Lerch, III, founder of the law firm Lerch, Early, and Brewer in Bethesda, MD. She is survived by her three sons: Harry W. Lerch of Stuart, FL., dahinda meda of Eugene, OR., and John R. Lerch of Salisbury, MD. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
An outstanding leader in everything she did, Bobby will forever be remembered as a champion for women and underprivileged communities. She was a remarkable woman who could accomplish miracles. If there was a boulder in her path that wouldn't move she would simply go around it, and do so graciously.
Bobby love travel, camping, genealogy, reading and needlepoint. But most of all she loved her family.
On her birthday weekend in March 2000, family and friends gathered to celebrate the amazing life of our grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and dear friend. Click here to view the birthday blog* created for the big occasion.
