About the Artist

Originally from India, I relocated to the USA in the 1960’s. Although I practiced medicine in the Madison area until the late 1980’s, I also loved the world of art.

My creativity was triggered at an early age by my very colorful and vibrant surroundings; as a child I was influenced by the rhythms and rich colors of my exotic country. The daily rituals of India begged to be recorded in my watercolors and clay sculptures.

My love of animals and nature is also reflected in my paintings and sculptures. I presently live in rural Deerfield, WI and own my own art gallery, The Blue Iris Gallery.I am surrounded by beautiful views and have gardens all around me for inspiration. I’ve also found that as an adult, the kaleidoscopic nature of the USA, especially Madison and its people have been of great impact on my work, which is a reflection of both the countries I call home.

Both my father and older brother were avid watercolorists and oil painters and they have each influenced my work. Clay sculpture and watercolors are the focus of my professional life and I flourish as a true Wisconsin artist. I am active in the Madison Watercolor Society, the Madison Art Guilt, and the private paint-out group, AWOL “Artistic Women on Location”.

I have had several solo and group exhibitions and have been very successful with sales to private collections and corporations. Most of my works are in private and corporate collections; pieces have traveled around the USA and foreign shores. I have had several unique pieces on display at local galleries such as Silverman Jura Gallery in Spring Green, Perine Gallery in Madison and Montage Gallery in Cambridge. I have been selected by jury to show in the “Watercolor Wisconsin” show and the “Midwest Watercolor” show.
