Version Differences
v1.0 (U) - NTSC
The original version of the game. The Z-trick is only possible in this version, so it is ideal for speedrunning.
v1.1 (U) - NTSC
The updated English version that patched the Z-trick, making it very bad for speedruns. Other than that, it is the same as v1.0.
(E) - PAL
The updated European version of the game. While not having the Z-trick, it also has a slower refresh rate, making the in-game timer run longer for the same amount of time that a NTSC game runs. This makes NTSC comparisons for individual level time attack difficult, as the translation isn't necessarily the same in reality for each level.
Medal times are also increased by 20%, as the game's refresh rate is 20% slower. This does not affect gameplay.
(J) - NTSC
The updated Japanese version that not only patched the Z-trick, but increased the platinum medal time attack requirements for several levels. This makes the 100% run easier on Japanese.
Other text and aesthetic changes were made, but they do not affect the speedrun at all. Text scrolls the same speed regardless of language.
