Album launch in Bitterley!
Richard Durrant is playing in Bitterley Village Hall on 31st May and is choosing to launch his new album during his tour with Arts Alive. The album, entitled ‘Four Strung Bach Technique’, features the Bach Cello Suites transcribed for tenor ukulele and tenor banjo. Richard plays a ukulele made from wood rescued from the Biscuit Creek fires in Oregon, and his main guitar is crafted from 5,000 year old bog oak!
This promises to be a solo concert of jaw dropping musicianship from the man dubbed The Guitar Whisperer. In addition to the Bach Prelude in E, pieces will include Barrios ‘La Catedral’ and music from Spain, South America and the British Isles. Richard is one of the greatest guitarists of his generation, a natural storyteller who has entertained audiences worldwide. He has played live on BBC Radio 2, 3, 4 and 6 Music and has performed in sold out Rural Touring venues across the UK with his beautifully presented shows.
Richard will be joined onstage by his trusty bicycle and trailer as part of his low carbon, green initiative to draw attention to climate change. He will be cycling all the way to Shropshire from his home on the south coast so please do come and support him!
“My new favourite guitarist... Richard Durrant sits completely outside the accepted genres. He has a peculiar and wonderful mind. “
