Have done several academic projects apart from work experiences:

Retrofit of a six storey steel building using passive dampers and base isolation (as a part of structural control course)

• The objective of the project is to perform seismic evaluation of proposed retrofit options in an existing building. The project uses the different techniques that are available to attenuate the effects of seismic loading on to the structure. The retrofit strategies proposed are based on the latest in seismic performance design in buildings and specially concentrate on systems that can dissipate energy passively, such systems are constantly being used as a standard to mitigate the effects of devastating earthquakes around the world. The systems used are Hysteretic dampers, Viscous dampers and Base isolation. The Project is carried out in RUOMOKO Software.

Seismic analysis of a nine span viaduct steel girder bridge (as a part of Earthquake engineering course).

• This project involves the analysis of a 9 span steel girder viaduct bridge based on two regulatory provisions, the ATC 49 and AASHTO LRFD. The methods used were response spectra analysis, Non linear and linear time history analysis, Multi modal spectral analysis etc., . Advanced numerical modeling was done using SAP 2000.

Dynamic Analysis of Structures using Linear Graph Theory

• This project mainly deals with analyzing the dynamic behavior of single storey or multi storey structures. Structures are initially modeled using mass, spring and damper systems and the equations are formulated using linear graphs drawn for the same. The respective equations are then analyzed in Time Domain and then converted to the Frequency Domain by using Discrete Fourier Transformation (DFT). The calculations are done using a program developed for the same in MATLAB.

Study on Cooling Time of Concrete using Low Temperature Oven (Experimental)

• This Project deals with the time taken by concrete to radiate heat energy absorbed by it, which involves many practical applications. In order to learn its importance a detailed study on cooling time of different grades of concrete using “low temperature oven”, was done as a part of laboratory oriented project. A working model of “LOW TEMPERATURE OVEN” was developed for the same and was presented during APOGEE 2007, All India Level Technical Festival conducted in BITS – Pilani.

Application of Nanotechnology in Civil Engineering.

• This project deals with application of nanotechnology in concrete, with insight into environmental aspects. The core idea was to improve the properties of concrete such as strength, durability and cracking resistance by applying the concept of nanoparticles, nanobinders & nanofibres. Feasibility study for the synthesis of nanoparticles in BITS – Pilani was also done.

Application of Fly-Ash and Filler Materials in Pavement Design – An Experimental Research.

• The availability of fine aggregates for the Granular sub base layer in pavements having the required properties such as drainage, shear strength, plasticity and liquid limit etc is decreasing rapidly over the years. Hence an alternative Fly ash, a waste product, was mixed with aggregates and the properties were checked by performing laboratory tests.

Design of a Shopping Mall, its Technology and Scheduling.

• Drawings were prepared using Autocad and CPM PERT analysis was performed.
