Research Interest
The primary focus of my research is on:
1) Microbial metabolism and mobilization of toxins
Multi-disciplinary approaches to study the functional diversity of microbial processes in a niche, controlling inorganic and organic pathways
2) Hazardous elements affecting microbiomeÂ
Trace metal contamination, sedimentary/aquatic biomarkers, biotransformation and mobilization in aquifers.
3) Geochemical control on microbial processes
Soil organic matter quality and lability in aquatic environments.
Geochemical proxies to trace natural and/or human-induced changes.
4) Microbial stress physiology
Biodiversity and survival of microorganisms in extreme environments.
Multiple proxies (e.g. PLFA) to study effect of environmental stress.
