My name is Bibhas Ranjan Majhi and I am a Physicist.
I born at a remote village (Bhubannagar) in a district (South 24 Parganas) in West Bengal, India. My Father, Late Bhaba Ranjan Majhi, was a retired school teacher. While my mother, Puspa Majhi, is a traditional bengali house wife. I completed school studies in the village schools (Bhubannagar High School (Secondary) and Namkhana Union High Schoool (Higher Secondary)) and then went to Calcutta where I obtained all my degrees starting from B.Sc to Ph.D (B.Sc from R.K.Mission Rasedential College Narendrapur; M.Sc from Razabazar Science College; PhD from SNBNCBS). Meanwhile I met Priyanka to whom I married on 20th June, 2011. We then blessed with a baby girl on 8th December, 2015. We affectionately call her Mini (Ishita).
As a human being I am mainly driven by Swami Vivakananda. I love all kinds of melodious music, especially Rabindra Sangeet. Being Indian, I am a great fan of Cricket and Football. Sometimes I follow ``Little master'' (Sachin Tendulkar) when I am in difficult situation.
My inclination towards Physics started from Higher Secondary days. I thank all my teachers for inspiring me and always showing the right path. I was working as a PhD student from August, 2006 to November, 2010 under the supervision of Prof. Rabin Banerjee at S.N.Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, India, one of the leading centres for theoretical physics in the world. I submitted my thesis on December, 2010 and was awarded the Ph.D. degree on August, 2011 from University of Calcutta. I then worked at IUCAA as a usual Post Doctoral fellow with Prof. T. Padmanabhan, one of the frontiers of Gravity and Astrophysics, from February, 2011 to December, 2012 where I also worked as a Vaidya-Raychaudhuri Post-Doctoral fellow from January, 2013 to December, 2013. Next I moved to Israel for my second post doc. There first I was a Lady-Davis fellow (from Jan.,2014 to Sept, 2014) and then Golda Meir fellow (from Oct, 2014 to Nov, 2014) under Prof. Jacob D. Bekenstein at Racah Institute of Physics, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel.
Then I decided to come back India. I joint as an Assistant Professor at Dept. of Physics, IIT Guwahati, Assam. I have been there from Dec, 2014 till now.
