Art is a precious gift of nature. Cinema and film are the most popular arts of the twentieth century. India is largest producer of films in the world and its main center in India is Mumbai. Many people come to the glittering film Nagri Mumbai to showcase their art, but there are very few lucky people who are fortunate enough to take the fragrance of their art far and wide. One such personality is Rajendra Jaspal, who, after receiving his academic training in acting and directing, worked with many great actors in Theater and Film City Mumbai. But suddenly something happened in Jaspal's life that shattered all his dreams. Naseeruddin Shah and Ompuri’s classmate at NSD Delhi and Film Institute Pune Punjabi film actor Rajendra Jaspal was born on October 21, 1947 in the village of Jaspal Bangar in Ludhiana district to father Darshan Singh and mother Geeta Ji. Jaspal initially learned classical music from renowned musician Ustad Gurpartap Singh Gill and renowned playwright Devinder Daman linked Jaspal to the theater through singing. Jaspal quit his job at Patiala Bank in the sixties and started his acting career with the famous playwright Harpal Tiwana's drama group 'Punjab Kala Manch'. Rajendra Jaspal who played the roll of Samita Patil's husband in Bollywood filmmaker Shyam Benegal's film 'Manthan', walked out of the film industry in Mumbai after stabbing his friend Naseeruddin Shah. Naseeruddin Shah, in his autobiography 'And Then One Day' written in English, recounts the bittersweet memories of Jaspal, saying that when Jaspal attacked him in Mumbai, he was saved by film actor Om Puri. Apart from Manthan, Jaspal has acted in several films and plays by renowned playwright Satyadeva Dubey, including Syed Mirza Akhtar's film “Arvind Desai Ki Ajib Dastan” and the Dr jagmail bhathuan’s Punjabi telefilm Amar-Preet, dedicated to India-Pakistan friendly relations. But he did not recover mentally after attacking his friend Naseeruddin with a knife in Mumbai. Jaspal did not get married due to constant depression and is currently living a very difficult life with his elderly mother in the midst of a severe financial crisis. In his autobiography "And Then One Day", the great film actor Naseeruddin Shah, referring to his classmate Punjabi film actor Rajendra Jaspal in NSD Delhi, says, "I often wonder what Jaspal's life would have been like if he had shared his feelings. In many ways Jaspal was a better actor than me, shapely body, beautiful, rural Punjabi, lively man who also knew how to sing and dance, in many ways. Jaspal was a better actor than me " The documentary film 'Yeh Yaad Mere Armano Ki' based on the tragedy of Jaspal's life has just been released by Bhai Kahan Singh Nabha's great grandson Major A P Singh, a syndicate member of Punjabi University Patiala.
