Mrs. Julie Colbert, Librarian
Mrs. Julie Dietle Colbert, BGHS Class of 1976, has been the Bowling Green Middle/High School librarian for the past 30 years. She first began working for the school district full time in 1994. Prior to her life as a school librarian, she worked for Missouri Life magazine and Digest Publishing Company. Mrs. Colbert received her Bachelor's of Journalism degree in 1980 from the University of Missouri - Columbia. While an undergraduate and grad student, Mrs. Colbert worked at Ellis Library on the Mizzou campus. Little did she realize that her work experience at the Ellis Library circulation desk, shelving and reserve desk would come in handy later in life. After the birth of her first son, Mrs. Colbert chose to be a stay-at-home mom for ten years. Mrs. Colbert returned to graduate school to earn her elementary education certification as well as her school librarian certificate.
Mrs. Colbert and her husband, Roger, have three adult sons, Robert Caleb, Jacob Roger and Ethan Andrew. In addition, they have two daughters-in-law, Lindsey Penick Colbert and Jodi Pupillo Colbert. Mrs. Colbert adores her five grandchildren, Evelyn Grace Williams, 12; Margaret Elizabeth Colbert, 5 years; Evan Matthew Colbert, 5 years, John-Jacob Roger (aka JJ) Colbert (2 years) and Emma Grace Colbert, 1 year. Mrs. Colbert loves Max, the grand-dog black lab too.
Brianne Smith, Assistant Librarian

Mrs. Brianne (Ince) Smith, BGHS class of 2002, began in the Bowling Green Middle/High School Library in December 2024. She has held several positions with Bowling Green R-1 School District. After graduating from Missouri State University in 2006 with a BS in Geography/Tourism, she started out as a sub for BGR-1 and then moved to a paraprofessional position, and ended up as the Library Aide at Frankford Elementary from 2008-2010. For the next 13 years, living in Bondurant, IA, Jefferson City, MO and finally back to her hometown of Frankford, MO, Mrs. Smith stayed home to raise her four children. In 2023, she started back with BGR-1 as a paraprofessional and now is currently back to the library setting as the Assistant Librarian for the Bowling Green Middle/High School Library.
Mrs. Smith and her husband, Andy, have four children, three boys and one girl. All four children attend schools at BGR-1, Keegan is a junior at the high school, Benson is in 6 th grade at the middle school, Ayla is in 3 rd at Frankford Elementary and Henry attends Pre-K in the new ECC building. Oh, and we have 9 chickens! As a family, you will most likely find us on a baseball field, basketball court or a cross country course. We also love to spend time at Mark Twain Lake camping and boating.
