BHS PTSO Minutes

Meeting Date: May 14, 2015

Steve Galante called meeting to order at 7:05 pm.

Minutes- Minutes from April 9, 2015 were voted and approved.

Thank you gifts were presented to Kathy Carnevale Noreen Kelly and Donna Michaud, as outgoing Senior parents for their efforts over the years to the organization.

2015-2016 Executive Board slate voted and approved.

President’s Report- Steve Galante thanked everyone for another successful year, and reminded all of the focus on our one annual fundraiser, the Golf Auction outing to be held on Sept. 28, 2015 with a 1pm shotgun start at Beverly Golf & Tennis.

Principal’s Report- Sean Gallagher also thanked everyone for their efforts in the 2014-2015 school year. Sean recognized several student achievements, including the completion of the first Senior Internship program to be held at Beverly High. Sean mentioned a Student Health Survey will be conducted before the end of the school year.

Treasurer’s Report- There was discussion on increasing the amount designated for senior scholarships by $400, from $2000 to $2400, as the Scholarship Committee felt they had six strong candidates, and were having difficulty eliminating one candidate. As we were closing the year in a strong cash position, the $400 increase was voted and approved. Andrea reported on the Treasurer’s report. Our bank account as of May 14th has a balance of just over $33K. The Targeted Funds allotted amount of $15,025 has $9,410 remaining to be spent, the Wish List has $3,413 remaining out of $12,500 and Enrichment has its full allotment of $5,000 remaining.

Hospitality- The next event is the Teacher/Staff appreciation breakfast scheduled to be held Friday, May 22nd 7am -10am in the cafeteria.

Up All Night- The 24th Anniversary of this event for our Senior Class is going to be held at the Sterling YMCA this year, the Sunday night of graduation. This is an exciting move for UAN, coming back to Beverly after several years at Cedardale in Haverhill. The committee will be reaching out to the entire school and business community for continued support. Volunteers will be needed as chaperones. Also, you can help UAN financially by signing up for A+Plus program at Stop & Shop where a % of you purchases supports UAN. Please sign up the next time you go into Stop & Shop.

School Site Council-No report.

City-Wide PTO- Paula Colahan spoke that Pedestrian Traffic Safety continues to be a priority for this group.

School Committee Report –Paul Manzo spoke that the committee is currently working on its 2015-2016 school year budget. Also, Paul said the Middle School Project continues to move forward.

Beverly Education Foundation- It was noted to please support and promote one of the Foundation’s strongest events of the year, Honor A Teacher, as its donations are lower than in the past.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00pm.

Next meeting scheduled for September 10, 2015 at 7pm in the BHS library.
