Representations of p-adic Groups Conference: Code of Conduct

We are dedicated to providing a positive experience for everyone.  We expect all participants to maintain a respectful and professional environment. We do not tolerate harassment or bullying of any participants in any form.  By registering for the conference, you are agreeing to abide by this code of conduct in good faith, and to the best of your ability.

Big picture:

• Treat each other as valued colleagues.

• Err on the side of professionalism: if you’re not sure if something is appropriate or not, it probably isn’t.

• If someone communicates a boundary, respect it.

What constitutes inappropriate conduct?

The following list includes behavior that we wish to emphasize is unacceptable. It is not intended to be exhaustive.

• Offensive comments related to ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental illness, neuro(a)typicality, physical appearance, age, nationality, or religion. This includes comments made in jest.

• Deliberate misgendering or use of rejected names.

• Sustained disruption of discussion.

• Patterns of inappropriate social contact, such as assuming inappropriate levels of intimacy with others or unwelcome sexual attention.

Reporting and Consequences

If you are being harassed by a member of the community, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact one of the organizers (for example, Beth at beth.romano@kcl.ac.uk or Shaun at Shaun.Stevens@uea.ac.uk). We will do our best to take care of the situation in an appropriate manner. We will respect confidentiality requests and and will not name harassment victims without their affirmative consent.

Anyone who violates this code of conduct may be removed from the conference at the discretion of the organizers.
