La Bernardinia Baroque Ensemble
Baroque Kaleidoscope: A Concert of German Quartets and Trios
Rainer Beckmann, recorder; Donna Fournier, viola da gamba; and Marcia Kravis, harpsichord will be joined by Rebecca Harris, baroque violin; and Amy Leonard, baroque viola to perform German quartets and trio sonatas by Bach, Telemann, and Quantz. Each trio will feature a different combination of instruments creating a beautiful musical kaleidoscope of colors and textures. Join us at Holy Trinity on Rittenhouse Square as part of their noontime concert series and later in the season during the first evening of the Amherst Early Music Winter Weekend Workshop.

Harpsichord Music of the Low Countries in the Age of Vermeer
The flowering of trade, science and industry in the Netherlands during the seventeenth century made it fertile ground for the visual and musical arts. This program features harpsichord music of indigenous composers such as Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, religious refugees John Bull and Peter Philips, and Johann Jakob Froberger, a visting composer/performer. This concert's venue is an art club in a historic double townhouse in the heart of Philadelphia, a perfect location for an intimate harpsichord recital by Bernardinia's Marcia Kravis.

Melomanie with La Bernardinia
Rainer Beckmann, recorder; Donna Fournier, viola da gamba; and Marcia Kravis, harpsichord will join forces with the Wilmington-based baroque and new music ensemble, Melomanie. Our joint concert of provocative pairings will feature 21st century music from Brazil for recorder and harpsichord by Pitombeira, a work for large ensemble by Pennsylvania composer Anthony Mosakowski, baroque music for two harpsichords, and works by Marcello and Vivaldi. The performance will take place in a beautiful museum venue. We hope to see you down in Delaware for an afternoon of visual and musical arts.

Grounds, Ayres, and Fancies: Chamber Music from 17th Century England
Rainer Beckmann, recorder; Donna Fournier, viola da gamba; and Marcia Kravis, harpsichord will be joined by organist Chad Fothergill to perform works from popular collections such as The Division Flute, The Division Viol, The Fitzwilliam Virginal Book, Byrd's Parthenia in-Violata, Hume's First Part of Ayres, and Locke's Little Consort. Enjoy a spring afternoon with delightful early English chamber music in the lovely acoustics of University Lutheran Church.
