Who We Are

Night on the Streets is an effort made up of many volunteers across many faith backgrounds, ages, and life experiences, who come together to answer the Gospel call to Feed the hungry, Clothe the naked, Shelter the homeless, Visit those in prison, Comfort the sick, and Bury the dead.

Since 1997, Night on the Streets Catholic Worker (NOSCW) has served hundreds of thousands of high-quality meals to those in need on the streets of Berkeley, California, USA.

In addition to weekly meals, NOSCW serves the neediest residents in the East Bay with regular Sunday and holiday meals, soup nights, and a variety of other mail, legal, tax, and health services and other outreach that ranges from hospital and prison visits to advocacy for healthcare for the homeless.

While we have "Catholic" in the name, our volunteers and the community we serve is much broader than the Catholic or Christian church. We serve those in need regardless of faith or background, and often step in as a safety net for those who are routinely forgotten or swept under the rug.

Inspired by Peter Maurin and Dorothy Day, we try to be a loving presence in the lives of the neediest in Northern California.
