Tammie L.S. Benzinger, M.D., Ph.D., Professor of Radiology and Neurological Surgery, benzingert@wustl.edu

Dr. Benzinger is the Director of the Knight Alzheimer Research Imaging Program at Washington University School of Medicine, the Imaging Core Director for the international Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network (DIAN) and the DIAN Clinical Trials Unit (DIAN-TU). She completed her M.D. and Ph.D. at the University of Chicago, where she performed critical investigations into the structure of the beta-amyloid plaque using solid state nuclear magnetic resonance imaging (NMR). She then continued clinical training at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University, where she now serves as the Chief of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Her current research focus is on multimodal imaging using both MRI and PET in the presymptomatic phase of Alzheimer disease (AD). She was recently awarded the Women in Neuroradiology Leadership Award from the American Society for Neuroradiology and the Distinguished Investigator Award from the Academy for Radiology and Biomedical Imaging Research.
