Hack#1 Become devoted to your IORB - make your IORB tab open automatically on all your devices, download and use the APP.
log often, log well. never finish a term break holiday without being completely up to date.
Hack#2 Understand the IORB algorithm for calculating your "% complete":
One Hour every 7 days, or:
Two Hours every 14 days, or:
Four hours every 28 days.
It really is essential to log your activities correctly on the IORB. Please - If you do not understand this - ask for help early!
Why do we log? = When finalising your Award, the State office review your entries.
How are you making it clear that you are meeting the time / activity requirements, showing improvement and making progress towards your goals?
Compliant = "a full sentence that describes the activity undertaken and the progress towards the goal"
Tuesday training for the pre-season game against St. Patrick's. Todays drills were improving our was counter attack.
Drive to Mona Vale Beach, 28km. Continued driving safely and keeping to the speed limit.
Senior choir rehearsal. Preparing for my solo in symphony under the stars.
"Enrich" every 3-5 entries = how are you progressing towards your goals? if it is all looking brief and a bit the same, go the extra effort on every 3rd or 5th entry.
Tough pre-season game against St. Patrick's. My tackling and passing have noticeably improved, and I will continue to work on my kicking.
Return trip to Collaroy, 21km. Today my instructor commented on how my lane changing and situational awareness has really improved. I still fumble the occasional reverse park so I will continue to work on those next week.
After weeks of practice tonight I felt really confident while performing. My assessor mentioned that I seemed to deliver the piece with ease, and was smiling for most of the time! I look forward to continuing to improve my timing and range.
Fail = simple 2-5 word descriptions: "tuesday training" or "game against St Pats"
Hack #3 - Is your goal worthy?
Remember that your skill is non physical & your service is not a skill :)
A goal should be <SMART> so really put some thought into this!
" to continually improve my cricket throughout the season. In particular I aim to improve my forward defence and running between wickets. This should see my average climb above 20 for the season"
Fail = "enjoy playing for the team" or "serve others"
Skill Fail = "serving the team"
Service Fail = "improve my leadership by.."
Hack#4 Enter the correct dates for Adventurous Journey Preparation and Training
PREP AND TRAINING - ACTIVITY tab
This date must be *after* your start date and *before* your practice journey
Hack#5 You should NOT have to create your own AJ event. If you are on our exped pathway, Dawesy can add you :)
Check that both Journey Assessor and Supervisor set to "Dawes" :)
Hack#6 Do not upload your own Journey reports- instead...
Step one: Use the appropriate pre prepared scaffold (find them at the bottom of each DEA exped page).
get it right the first time - Be sure to spell check and reread your draft. Your reflection section must be personal/unique.
Step two: Email your draft qualifying journey report (.docx word format - using the preferred file name) to dawesy for checking
Step three: Dawesy will upload the approved version direct to your IORB (this also gives your report a hidden digital fingerprint indicating it has met Award Leader approval). Clever!
