Diary record of Malarial Attacks Lt. Basil Gilbert Gilbert
All the attacks up until Aug. 15,1942 had been only of a few days duration. Started chills and fever on 8/15/1942 and had very severe one until Sept 12, 1942. This attack was so bad and was in conjunction with a bad case of diarrhea – I finally received a couple of 120 grams of quima on Sept. 5, 1942. The doctor later told me that he didn’t have much hope for me at the time.
During the last 3 attacks I also had case of runs and was in very weak condition because of dieses and fact that I was exposed to winter in Japan without proper clothes or heat.
