Short Bio

Satoshi Funabashi is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Ogata Laboratory, Waseda University, Japan. His education includes a Ph.D., M.Eng. and B.Eng. from Waseda University under the supervision of Shigeki Sugano. His research interests focus at the symbiotic and co-working robots such as humanoid robots and robot arms. Currently, his projects are for control methods of two-fingered grippers and multi-fingered hands with several types of touch sensors (6-axis force/torque sensor, distributed 3-axis tactile sensor) by recurrent and convolutional neural networks.

His main focus for research development is how to build deep neural networks according to robotic configurations represented by tactile sensors.

Key words: Symbiotic robots, object manipulation and recognition, tactile sensing, deep learning, machine learnings. Morphology adaptation.
