Bringing It All Together

Here’s a video of the feeder in action. As you can see, the way that we attached the bowl prevents Barley from eating directly from it (i.e. inhaling his food). Instead, he uses his paws to shovel a little bit of food out at a time, thereby extending mealtime.

Web Interface

Here is a screenshot of the website where we can monitor Barley via webcam.

There is also a page with an archive of webcam photos taken once a minute for the past 24 hours, so that we can check and see that the feeder dispensed food at the set time. Here is a sample sequence of photos taken during one night's feeding.

The website also allows us to access the feeder settings, such as the current time, the scheduled time for feedings, various servo settings, etc.

Future Upgrades

Currently in the works is a small upgrade in the form of adding an IR sensor to the inside of the lid to sense the food level and have that information reported in real time to the website. This will allow us to monitor the amount of food left in the feeder reservoir, and to top it off when it gets low without having to manually open the feeder and check.
