My oldest "Bargh" ancestor is Thomas Bargh, born about 1801, probably in England. There is doubt about his occupation, at the time of his marriage he is listed as "Brassfounder", but at the time of his son Thomas' wedding he is listed as "Optician".

He married Margaret Taylor on 3rd of January 1831 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland and they had 6 children;

1. Elizabeth 1832,

2. William 1833, married Elizabeth Ross. They had 4 children all born in Scotland

3. Hugh 1835,

4. John 1838, married Catherine Innes Tulloch. They had 6 children all born in Scotland

5. Thomas Miller 1839, married Charlotte Munro. They had 10 children

6. Joshua 1842

• Thomas Miller Bargh (5) married Charlotte F Munro on the 27th January 1862 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland and they had 10 children. The family emigrated to Australia on the "Potosi" in 1883 arriving at the port of Sydney via Hobart Tasmania. Some members of the family remained in Tasmania and others including my great grandfather and Thomas Cecil Bargh settled in Sydney.

1. Thomas Cecil Bargh 1863, married Lavinia Murphy 1887 in Sydney Australia.

2. Robert Munro Bargh 1865, married Florence H Beaudini in 1893 in Victoria Australia

3. Annie Craig Bargh 1867, married Henry David Vautin in 1889 in Hobart Tasmania.

4. William Bargh 1869, believed to have died in Scotland as an infant.

6. Margaret Bargh 1873.

7. Mary Bargh 1876, married William Henry Ward in 1904 in Hobart Tasmania.

8. Charlotte Bargh 1878.

9. Jeannie Bargh 1882, married James Bingham Maycock in 1907 in Hobart Tasmania.

10. Ellen ( Nellie ) Bargh 1884, married Colin Oscar Watson in 1916 in Hobart Tasmania

• Thomas Cecil Bargh 1863 (1) married Lavinia Murphy in Sydney in 1887. Lavinia was the grandaughter of Patrick O'Brien Murphy who had married into the Archdall family to Maria Archdall who was the granddaughter of Colonel Mervyn Archdall of Castle Archdall. The Archdall line goes back through Angel Archdall 1688, to John Archdall about 1460.

Thomas and Lavinia had 7 children:-

1. Charlotte Archdall Bargh 1887, married Albert Leopold Victor Dorhauer 1911 Sydney

2. Elsie (Ailsa) Craig Bargh 1889, married William Robertson 11917 Sydney.

3. Thomas Cecil Bargh 1891, married Mary Louise Clancy 1914 Sydney. They had two children

4. Hugh Bargh 1893, married Irene E Goodwin 1927 Sydney. They had one child, Bruce Nathaniel Bargh

5. Robert Bruce Bargh 1895. Killed at Paschaendale Belgium 1917 ( see link at bottom of page)

6. Joshua Bargh 1898, married Hannorah Rose McGlede 1924, they divorced and he married Germaine Dupaz in Belgium. He died in Belgium in 1963

7. Victor Bargh 1903. Died as an infant

• Charlotte Archdall Bargh (1) married Albert Leopold Victor Dorhauer in 1911 and they had two children:-

1. Albert Mervyn Archdall Dorhauer

2. Russell Dorhauer

Charlotte Archdall Dorhauer, nee Bargh is the 11th great granddaughter of John Archdale Sr. born about 1460 in Ireland
