The Fort Hall Replica is 60+ years old, and is experiencing some structural fatigue to the second story catwalk that provides access to the Native American exhibit and staged living quarters. There is a limited annual budget to care for the combined needs of the Fort and Junction Town, however, the cost of the catwalk replacement is above and beyond what is currently available. Every year, before opening for the summer season we reassess the structure but the last few winters have been particularly hard on the complex's Fort and Junction Town and the upper rooms may need to be roped off from visitors until the needed repairs are made.
Over 1000 students walk through the Fort's wooden gates between April - June and the Replica is a major stop for many summer travelers who are either following the Oregon Trail route or heading to Yellowstone National Park. Keeping our exhibits open and accessible to all our visitors is our main goal at the Historical Complex.
The estimated amount needed to complete the work is going to be $10,000. If you would like to contribute to the catwalk replacement, you can do so here to make a donation!
